The Pediatric Associates billing staff
is available to help you with any financial issues you may
have. As a policy, our physicians do not discuss billing
problems with patients. Please discuss any billing or payment
problems with the business office. The Business Office is
open from 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Please call 302-368-8643 to speak with a representative.
Payment is the responsibility of the parent
or guardian who accompanies the child on the day of their
visit. The parent or guardian is responsible for all co-payments
and non-covered services at the time of service unless prior
arrangements have been made with a member of our billing
staff. Co-payments are collected when checking in the patient.
When the child’s healthcare coverage
is with a company that we are participating providers, our
billing staff will submit a claim to the insurance carrier
on your behalf. However, if the claim is not paid by the
insurance company within 60 days it then becomes the responsibility
of the parent or guardian.
We participate in many insurance plans.
Patients should be aware of their individual plan requirements.
To find out if a particular physician participates with
your plan, please contact your insurance company. Some procedures
are not covered under certain plans. Please remember to
bring all insurance cards to each visit so that your child’s
enrollment can be verified.
We do not bill non- participating insurance
companies for office visits, but we will provide you with
a receipt that can be sent to your insurance company for
reimbursement. If your child’s health insurance coverage
is with a company that we do not participate with, the parent
or guardian is responsible for payment in full at time of
service unless prior arrangements have been made with a
member of our billing staff.
It is important to remember that insurance
coverage contracts are between the subscriber and their
insurance company. It is the responsibility of the parent
or guardian to contact the patient’s insurance company
to verify benefits and participating facilities and specialists
for any procedures or tests ordered.
We will provide referrals to physicians
participating in your insurance plan only after evaluating
your child. The parent or guardian is responsible for requesting
any necessary referrals prior to seeing any specialists,
and prior to having any tests or procedures performed. When
a referral is required, we request at least 48 hours to
process the request. We cannot give retroactive referrals
for consultations not initially recommended by one of our
pediatricians. If you need an insurance referral for services
outside our office, contact our Referral Coordinator between
8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 368-1632.
For your convenience we accept Cash, Check,
MasterCard, Visa and Discover.
